Getting rid of the Xmas Bod!

Ok, so it’s that time of year where we have all over indulged. We have decided that January will be the month to transform our lives of course and there’s nothing wrong with that. January is just as good a time to start as any other month. With Xmas comes over indulgence, too much food, too much chocolate and an ever-expanding waistline. Unless you are on the straight and narrow its pretty much impossible to not gain a little extra poundage during the festive time of year.

What’s the best way to get your self back on track and shift some of that Xmas indulgence? Try these suggestions below and start making changes…

Detox your body with water

You don’t have to do anything drastic with a detox. We suggest making up some fat fighting water. Your body needs water for every process it carries out. Xmas can lead to many people being dehydrated due to excess alcohol and salty foods. This can lead to bloating and weight gain. Download a water app or make a chart yourself and try to consume at least 8 glasses of water a day to help replenish and detox your body. Try this jug recipe for healthy water that’s delicious and also helps speed up your weight loss process:

8 glasses of water

1 tablespoon of grated ginger

1 whole cucumber sliced

1 whole lemon sliced

1 handful of mint leaves

Refrigerate the mixture and let it all infuse over night. Add some ice and serve up! Delicious!

Get the carbs and protein right

You have probably been consuming all the wrong types of carbohydrates over Xmas. Chocolates, sweets, bread, pastries and everything else that’s naughty but nice. To get rid of the Xmas Xcess you will need to choose healthy, slowly digesting carbs such as whole grains, sweet potato and oats to name but a few. Try and select your protein from lean choices such as chicken breast, lean mince, tofu, beans and lentils. You will stay fuller for longer with these food types and they will keep the body fat burning!

Try this HIIT workout to burn body fat

High intensity interval training is a great way to kick-start your metabolism again and burn through some extra calories fast. The aim is to get your heart rate up fast and put your body into a calorie-burning mode. The below circuit-style HIIT workout has been designed for you to perform anywhere be it at home or in the gym.
